Parallel to the International Conference Series on Quality Early Childhood Education, the South Asian International Association for Early Childhood Care and Development is implementing the ‘International Project for Capacity Development of Early Childhood Development Teachers (IPFCD),’ 

An online lecture series will be conducted on

  • STEAM Education in Early Childhood Education. 
  • Modern Approaches in Early Childhood Education
  • Best Practices of STEAM in Early Childhood Education, 
  • Early Childhood Education in other countries.
  • Communication skills Development in English Language 

Lectures will be conducted in

  • English Medium
  • Sinhala medium
  • Tamil Medium

Participants will be qualified as a modern ECCD teacher with new pedagogical approaches and newly updated knowledge on early childhood education. They will gain proper knowledge of the best practices of other South Asian countries in ECCD education.

At the end, participants’ competencies are evaluated, and participants who complete the lecture series successfully will get “Advanced certificate on STEAM Education and Modern Approaches” at the certificate awarding ceremony.  It will be organized parallel to the international conference on quality education in 2024.

Submit Assignments to get Certificate on STEAM Education


Final Examination 2024 October – Advanced Certificate in STEAM Education (Level 01)

Final Examination 2024 – October: Advanced Certificate in STEAM Education (Level 01)

The final examination will be held between October 15th and 30th, 2024. To be eligible for the final examination, you must fulfill the following requirements:

  • You should have completed your registration on or before July 31, 2024. Check your registration.
  • If you have not uploaded all assignments to google form you must have sent all your assignments as a book by registered post or courier service on or before October 10th, 2024. Postal address: C/O Ms. Ashoka Swarnapali, No. 285B, Kaliyammahara, Piliyandala. In your assignment book, on the front page, you should include your name, identity card number, WhatsApp number, and name of the divisional secretariat, district, and province. Please prepare the assignment book using photocopies and keep the original copies of the assignments with you.
  • If you have uploaded all assignments to the google Form, then you need not send your assignments as a book by post. The teachers who can’t upload all assignments to google form need to send all assignments by registered post on or before October 10th, 2024

  • You must submit the application for the examination on or before September 30, 2024. Click here to submit your application for the examination.
  • Teachers who fulfill the above requirements are eligible to sit for the examination in October 2024. (Others can fulfil requirements to sit for the next examination on December 2024)
  • Click here to check whether your exam application has been submitted successfully.
  • All teachers who complete the continuous assessments and the final examination are eligible to receive the Advanced Certificate on STEAM Education ( Level 01).

Do you like to be a Master Teacher on STEAM Education?

All teachers who complete continuous assessments and the final examination are eligible to receive certificates. In addition, they can obtain certification as a Master Teacher in STEAM Education if they fulfill the following requirements:

  1. Submit a Recorded Video Series: Show how you implement STEAM concepts in your ECCD Center. At least 25 videos should be uploaded, covering different topics.

    • When recording, first show your face to confirm that it is your lesson.
    • When uploading, include a brief introduction explaining which STEAM concepts you have implemented. Also, write down your name and the name of your ECCD Center.
    • Alternative Submission: If any ECCD teacher is unable to record activities in their ECCD center, they can upload an activity from the STEAM Education in South Asian Countries Facebook Group. By playing the video, they can analyze the activity, identifying which STEAM Education theories have been implemented, the strengths of the activity, and areas for improvement. The presentation should last 15–20 minutes in addition to the video’s length. You need to upload a total of 25 videos analyzing children’s activities to fulfill the requirement.
  1. Presentations: You need to complete a minimum of 6 presentations on any 6 topics, explaining the content of the lectures. Presentations can be done in Sinhala, Tamil, or English, and each video should be 20–30 minutes long. (Each module should include at least 2 presentations. Lecturers’ PowerPoint slides can be used.)

  2. Weekly Plans: Prepare 5 videos explaining STEAM-based weekly plans for at least 5 themes.

  1. Upload Requirements:

    • All videos related to activities with children should be uploaded to the STEAM Education in South Asian Countries Facebook Group.
    • All videos showcasing your knowledge on theories, concepts, approaches, and best practices in STEAM education should be uploaded to the STEAM Education – Teachers’ Presentations Facebook Group.

Do you like to be a Master Trainer on STEAM Education?

ECCD teachers have opportunities to become Master Trainers in STEAM Education, fulfilling the academic requirements.

  • A video series explaining all lectures related to Module 01, Modul 02 and Module 03 should have been uploaded.
  • Local and international performance on Quality ECCD Education should be evaluated.
  • Candidates should have a diploma or higher qualification related to ECCD or an NVQ Level 4 qualification.
  • Candidates should have a minimum of three years of teaching experience.
  • Candidates should have completed Master Teacher qualification before the certificate awarding date.

NVQ Level 04

Teachers who work in the early childhood education sector need professional qualifications to get registration at the preschool unit or pre-school authority in the department of education in the relevant province. Registration of the teacher is an essential requirement in Sri Lanka.

National vocational qualification (NVQ) level 4 is the basic professional qualification to register as an ECCD teacher. 

In the COVID period, an online lecture series was conducted free of charge to ECCD teachers in the western province by Mr. Janaka Kamalgoda, President SAIA4ECCD. 

All lectures will be published here. Teachers who have worked for more than 4 years can apply for the NVQ Level 4 examination directly. It is called the recognition of prior learning (RPL) system. for them, and all untrained teachers can get the whole knowledge relevant to the NVQ level 4 curriculum through this lecture series.

This is a totally free video series; learn from it and try to do your best for children who will make the world beautiful in the future.

Message from Project Leader 

“Speak in English” online lecture series has been designed by the International Association for Quality Education along with South Asian International Association for Early Childhood and Development in order to provide support to the ECCD teachers, Primary teachers and Secondary teachers in south Asian countries and teachers all over the world.  The main aim of this project is to help anyone who is keen in developing their communicational skills. 

Initially go through the lectures in any language (English, Sinhala or Tamil) you’re comfortable with.  Once you’ve understood the lecture fill the self-assessment form and make sure to do the following steps.

  1. Record the lesson according to your understanding and upload the video to your You Tube channel.
  2. Add the uploaded video to the relevant student’s showcase playlist on the iafqe YouTube channel.
  3. Upload the link of the video to the Google Form.
  4. Go through the questionnaire and answer all the questions.
  5. Take turns answering questions from the questionnaire with a partner and record it using Zoom platform.
  6. Check the accuracy of both your responses and if there are any errors watch the assisted recording for the questions from the questionnaire.
  7. If all the responses are accurate, upload the video to your YouTube channel and add your video to the IAFQE playlist.
  8. When the task is complete, upload the details in a Google Form and likewise complete all the tasks mentioned and upload it to the Google Form.
  9. Continue Steps 1–8 for all the lecture videos.
  10. The whole process will be evaluated by a panel of examiners, and the certificates will be awarded according to the grading criteria.
